The Hunt for Roman Bawtry – Summary of Conclusions and Observations

This paper, posted on the “Bawtry History” page, marks the completion of our Roman Bawtry project, which has been running for the last year. The project, informed by five desktop studies, aimed to collate, examine and review all of the available information about Roman activity in and around Bawtry, with a view to assessing whether there is evidence of a settlement in or near Bawtry during the Roman occupation.

We found there is some evidence, which needs further investigation. We cannot, however, do that investigation ourselves – we need professional help. That won’t be easy to get – but we’re going to have a go.
