We have installed a lectern about this battle – “Bawtry’s Battling Anglo-Saxons” – which took place in 616 CE. Few people know about the battle but it was of great importance in England’s history. The lectern has been installed close to the battle site, on the Gainsborough Road. It’s located on the left (travelling out of Bawtry) just beyond Bawtry bridge, adjacent to the start of the lay-by.
