A major new project – The Hunt for Roman Bawtry

Our “History” page includes two original papers on Roman Bawtry. You’ll see from those that we know there was a lot of activity in the area in Roman times – but what we don’t know is whether there was actually a settlement at what is now Bawtry. Our Hunt for Roman Bawtry project aims to change that. In the first place we will, with the help of Bawtry residents, be using garden archaeology to answer the question.
