We posted Stage Two, Part One of our desktop review on 11th November last year. We’re still beavering away, and here’s Stage Two, Part Two. It covers monuments, features and artefacts from the south and east of Bawtry. It doesn’t, however, cover the very important sites of the fortlet at Scaftworth and the probable Roman shrine near the Idle – these will follow later.
The desktop refers to an appendix, which is a PowerPoint presentation titled “The Origins of Bawtry”. We can’t upload the actual presentation here, but the attached document with the same title contains all the material in the presentation. In the future, this will be reworked as a history paper, and posted on our History page.
We intend to share all the conclusions of our “Hunt for Roman Bawtry” project at a public presentation during Bawtry Festival week in June 2025.
Two PDF documents for uploading are attached.
